Steve completed a Student Apprenticeship with the then National Coal Board and qualified as a Mechanical Engineer ( BEng). During which time he took part in a 12-month student exchange in Bochum, Germany. From there he worked for two German Air Treatment Companies Ultrafilter Ltd and Zander UK .

After a successful career working and growing those two companies, Steve and a former business partner launched Hi-line Industries Ltd in November 1999,now one of the UKs largest privately owned Air Treatment companies.

Steve, was elected to the position of Committee Chairman by his peers in June 2022. With over 40 years working in the field of Compressed Air, he has a proven track record in Adsorption and Generator design, with a keen interest in making everything as energy efficient as practically possible. Now as sole owner his remit is to nurture as much young talent as possible through the ranks at Hi-line starting with his team of Apprentices.
